First Point

I know only a few people who read our blog will appreciate this.

I have been working with my pup for a while now, well a little every day. We have been working come, kennel and other commands like "whoa" or for my pup Lars "Stay". He has been doing really good. I went to the store to get a quail wing to get him in a good place before we work some live birds next week at Wasach Wing and Clay. Luckly, for me the wind was working in my favor and I could use my own lawn. The lawn was still moist and I took the wing through the grass and then hid the wind under some fenceline and grass. The wind was coming at us and from about 30ft away he was sniffing like a crazy german and he caught scent of the wing through the grass and within about 6 ft of where the wing was hidden he stopped and froze. He didn't know what to do, he just stood still with the wind and scent in his face. I took him off the scent then gave him some love. I got the camera and this is what he produced a good solid point just on scent!!!

I love my pup.

Onother day and a dollar short...

By the way the title has nothing to do with the post, it was just stuck in my head. The community nurses got this cake for us. They said we could eat what looks like a picture of us. YOU CAN'T eat the picture it's freak'n paper man. Of course we find this out after i eat it.
I think this means good luck station. For some reason the nurses really wanted us to take a pic here so we said aight!
If you ever wonderd what Chinese Stick figures would look like it these things, hahah The eyes are slanted.
She is lost in thought..."Man that water looks foul"....This is probably what she was thinking.
You have got to watch out for trees that grow into houses...but if you come from the other direction you can't see the sign "watch your head"
This is one of the trees houses walls. The tree just started growing through this fort. Cool eh.
I took a picture with this cool "ahgong" cause we had similar hair, when i joked with him that he was handsome cause his hair was like mine he started laughing uncontrollably, it was pretty funny.
This is my nurse fenny. She is crazy! She wanted me to see the ocean so she took me to this place with no waves. She made me a change purse. It is amazing, thanks fenny.
Because she is crazy she made me do this pose. it is prett funny i guess.
Doctor Li who was with us doesn't like the sun. She says it will make her brown and ugly. I said thanks for calling me ugly! we laughed, then she said your welcome! i laughed some more...
One of our patients. he was a nice old man who was cared for really well by his family. They must love him a lot.
This cutie pie was at a watermelon party.
Guess what this is called? Asian car seat! hahaahahahaahha
"I'm a little drummer boy" he was playing the drums so the gods could find his house to bless them.
This was the guy who had us over for watermelon, he grew this in his garden. It was massive.
We went to the temple festival and there were a bunch of performers like these guys on stillts who fight each other....
then these scary looking guys...there suppose to be some gods or something....they just look creepy, like that uncle your parents tell you not to hand around.
argh that guys is even scarier then the others. He is the protector of the god of the sea. Good day sir, i said good day!
This stove burns fake money for the spirits of your ansestors? What the heck do they need money for, even if it is fake.
I heard there was a war and this general was responsible for all the trash talk. hahahaah ok ok it's just a trash can but i thought it was funny.
Cool art work on the beams of the fort we visited. I thinks this is the type of art i would like to have around me.
Cool little plaque thing of the fort we were at defeating the wind i guess.
I think this guy is my new best friend! He is the god of education. I figured since i've been in school so long, i was sure we were cousins at least. LOL His purpose is to bless those who need help on tests if the put there info on some paper in front of him. don't know how it works, its just suppose to work.
cool pic we took with the fort in the back ground.
Ah haw! I've found it the only Asian girl to have some booty. You go girl!
Hello!... kitty? The funniest thing about this car is that it is driven by a guy! He says that he gets tons of chicks with this magnet...how do i get one?
Best sashimi i've ever had!
One of my patients with schizophreniea. She was soo cute.
little are action at ya.
Bam, how'd you like that for art? Ok not so much but still cool looking. I hope you enjoyed this round of pictures. There are more to come because we are going to visit some cool places! See you then...

Hot Monday!

Sorry, no pictures of hot Asian ladies today. The funniest thing happened to me today and i thought i would share. First I'd like for you to imagine what it was like when you were a child. You are at your friends house playing and you hear the tune for the "ICE CREAM MAN". This is the greatest tune on earth. So what do you do? You run home as fast as your legs will take you wishing some one will be there to give you some change. Unless your Julie she said she was too poor for the ice cream man but I'm sure i had her beat in that dept. You then run out side thinking that he couldn't possibly have passed you, looking in each direction you finally see him and nothing is better then that moment. Well, i was sitting in my room with the door open and i heard the all too familiar tune. So frantically i tossed my shoes on, got some money and ran 13 flights of stairs believing that i wouldn't be too late. That i would still get my ice cream. As i ran to the street where i thought the music was coming from i turned and there it was a big truck with flashing lights. It was amazing. Then the truck started to come toward me. Man, i was giddy like a little girl. Then i stuck my hand out to stop him for some mmmm mmm goodness... then the trash man passed right passed me. Moral of the story there is no such thing as the ICE CREAM MAN in Taiwan. Don't be fooled brethren. hahahah

Nurses Day, Community and Orphanage.

Oh happy day, oh happy daaay! this was the tune all the men in the audience were singing to themselves as the opening act of the nurses day celebration commenced. It was sweet! Basically all the heads of depts and hospital were there and this burlesque show was the opening number. This is Kome she is an ICU nurse. Never in my life have i wished to be sick....until now. lol If it helps she does this to put her self through school? hahahha
Just so you know i totally blew a kiss back. lol
This is the fairy good nurses explaining whats going on and the evil nurse and the good nurse confront the new nurse...
"ARGH, I'm your boss and your suck at nursing ARGH" yes the evil nurse doubles as a pirate on days off. After this the good nurse comes helps her then she learns to take care of her husband too who is suppose to be good looking but ummm i don't think so...
"alas my stomach hurts oh nurse wife please help me"
At the end they did some salute thing that pretty much look like i joined the Asian Nazi party. Weird!
This is me with one of the richest people in Taiwan. I was assigned her husband. Super nice people.
This is a lion "GROWWL" argh scary i know. It is suppose to protect the temple from what...probably really bad episodes of homestarrunner sbemails. ROBE that last one was soo bad.
We took care of the lady in blacks mother. She owned a restaurant and to say thank you see feed us. Apparently she must of hated the job we did by the looks of the food.
Clams anyone? eew gross!
Mmm, mm just like mother used to throw in the garbage.
Oyster soup my favorite thing to throw up! Blaahh jk it was actually really good, minus the oysters.
Cool temple.
I'm about to put a long tube up this guys nose into his stomach. This NG tube will help feed him and get him his medications and No he is not dead he just likes to keep his arms folded like that.
Me with a really cool ama and agong. Good times. Wassai!
Orphanage time. Although i these girls were busy i spent most of my time looking for a annie. Cute little red head. Couldn't find her?. Oh well
Just a plain olde good picture! Oh feeding the babies, get those engines running ladies. hahahah
This is Jim our prof. He is amazing with children and adults too.
Oh... look at this cute little guy. His name is Bauhs and he was adopted to an American family the Thaurds i believe. Ok ok i know just a little too much. I promise no more jokes.
Just me practicing for umm NEVER!
On a more serious side though, i wish i could have taken them home. I would love to add another engineer to the family. lol no but seriously these little ones are soo cute. They deserve to be with someone who can care for them and love them. Really i wish i could. Hopefully my time there will some how help them. Hope you enjoyed these round of pics. More places and cool things to blog about so come back soon!

night market! whooo who!

First i thought i would enlighten you with a little bit of art. i like to call this "i think i'm drinking tea made from this crap"...I took this picture right out side my patient's house.
Ok, night market madness. The first picture here i thought we would start off with a little transation lesson. ROTATION FLYCATTLE = poop on a stick. hahaha Ok not really its just like a churro minus the goodness.

This was my scooter driver. They play a game similar to spin the bottle. They put all the keys in one helmet then the boys pick the keys out and that is there driver. I got this tiny little lady. hahah she is half my size.

BUt she did quite well with me on the back.

They should do cones like this in the US. come on man!

Umm since we are not suppose to be riding scooters this is def. not my professor. hahah GO!

Night market sign.

Us with our peeps. This is the ICU dept.

I know this looks like one big giant rotating fat chunk but in actuallity it is chicken. I know right doesn't even look like it. They make these little sandwhiches for less then a buck. super delish.

This is Alexa about to eat a chicken foot with one of the nurses.

Holy hell, i know that was an oxymoron, but seriously there is this stuff called stinky tofu. Just to give you a little perspective if you take a kid who pooped there pants then let is sit for about two years that is exactly what this smells like. It is the most foul thing i have ever smelled. Even worse then Julies farts, JK she never farts.

Ummm, why did the chicken cross the road....cause he wanted to keep his feet? ok, so that isn't really funny but to the chinese it is hillarious.

This was my face after the stinky tofu...never ever again...ever! The worst part is when you go shopping after and burp....NEED I SAY MORE.

This would be the famous COAGULATED BLOOD RICE. It is blood mixed with some rice. Does a body good.

This was my ride back home. She was a freak'n crazy driver. I think the one in the red and white helmet watched too much happy days. "ehhh !" This ended a succefull night at the market. There is so much fun and so much to do. The market is similar to a swapmeat, except way cooler. Kind of like a carnaval with no rides. Massive amounts of people. Hip young people go there alot to meet friends and try to find boys apparently. To let you know i didn't find any boys. booo whoooo. Thats ok though i'm good. Hope you enjoyed this post. More to come.

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Well here is another post, but this time the set up was better than the first time. I think it will flow a little better. Thanks. Julie told me to always eat breakfast but here milk cost more than a liter of gas. I bought a half liter of milk for 3 American dollars. So now Julie tell me "should i really eat breakfast" hahah. Not if it cost that much....

This is what they call shwaa bing. Which is to not be confused with chwaa bing which means absolutely nothing and they will stare at you and think your an idiot. Yep, i'm an idiot.

when you order it, you get to put Leo (6) different types of ummmm, stuff in it and eat away. As far as shaved ice goes how can you mess that up right. Well leave it to the Taiwanese to do it. It taste like molasses

This guy who looks like a very stereotypical Asian was probably the greatest baseball fan ever, he had tons of stuff up in his restaurant for people to see. He pointed us in the right direction.

So here we are at the baseball game. This guy is the person who pumps up the crowd to get them involved. They are probably the most spirited people when it comes to sports.

the park

American pitcher oh yeah boy. Get out of here, and bye the way he sucked. hahah. Can i get a little dice kay please.

And the winner is not the black hello kitty

I'm pretty sure they are the rain dancers. Taiwan is in a drought. lol

This is the rat that won the mascot race. But i think it's suppose to be a lion. Wow, how fierce, a girl lion, it must be that time of the month for her.

These are my new girlfriends...lol sorry jules

Ok THESE are my new girlfriends, hahahh JK. I saw the walking outside the stadium and just asked them to take a picture and as you can see i am a winner!

They grow so fast!

This is a cool little restaurant. Like fondu in really dirty water.

Dinner: Top ramien, eggs, veggies, 30 tian about one dollar. Most restaurants look just like this. They don't really have ones like us. If they do they are supppper fancy which means way too expensive for me.

GOT CHURCH! It was pretty cool to meet the members there. They are so humble and they said that us coming has increased their faith. ahh so cool.

Yoga. argh!

Dinner from the back of a truck. My Favorite. They have this stuff called Ju Row (pork) on a stick umm mmm soo good.

Me getting really fat!

Gifts and breakfast from out community nurses. I don't even know what everything is so i won't explain.

Our nurses

one of our patients. Ah Gong, which means grandpa. he was very nice and really appreciated our help that day. They owned a super market. They are really rich.

My next patient was a bee keeper and this was her back hard. She said some how the bees just keep coming back. Brooke no they don't have a problem with missing bees. I think all the ones in the USA came here on strike.

This is me and Rae Jean out side a Buddhist temple retirement center. Umm, it was pretty gross inside so they wouldn't let me take pictures.
So far things are going well. Right now we just do a lot of observing but next week we will be doing more hands on stuff. We will be going to the orphanage on Thurs. I can't wait to see those little Asian babies. Asians are soo cute when they are tiny. What happens when they get older...JK. I'll keep you posted. Come back soon to see more cool pictures.

First day

I guess i was suppose to put these pictures in opposite order so they would show up right on the blog but umm... who cares. LOL So i'll tell you whats up from right now to some unknown prepoint....confusion? yeah me too, but alas "CHUNG GONG" As you can see from this picture is this poor fish is having a fun time in my belly. This my first meal here in Tainan at CHI MEI hospital. Now i know why there hospital stay is so low, this is what they get feed. As well you will notice the deep gaping hole that is his eye. I guess sucking out the eyes is customary and who am i to go against custom. They were ahight. Overall a pretty good meal. Rice and some veggies, jules you would be proud.
This is my accommodations while here at CHI MEI. Pretty sweet if you ask me. Oh and that's my lappy not the hospitals. Plus, what more could i want from a bed except for it to be as hard as a rock. Sweet dreams right!
This is the view from a window in our building.

This happy lady is on of the assistant deputy directors. Shes' a big wig here. Can't remember her name although it could be Chen She MA. but probably not. lol

This lovely picture is of one of the toughest biker gangs in Tainan. Watch out they will run you off the roads with there crazy baby throwing.

Faster than a speeding bullet, well sort of, ok not really. This is the train we took from the airport or there abouts to Tainan. From what i'm told it goes about 160 mph. I know you thought i was going to say KM/H but nope that is good ye olde MPH

Buying some crazy bus ticket that didn't really look like tickets at all.

Buy the way did you know that the Taiwanese invented the wheel, Ok not "the wheel " I think just this wheel, hahahahah.

If you ever come here make sure you put your apples in coffee beans cause then these agricultural beagles won't find your contraband.

For those of you who don't know Chinese music this is the famous boy band N'CHINK

You will notice the monitors these are heat sensors to see if you have an elevated temperature...H1N1 anybody?

I'm glad there wasn't a turd in this sqwater when i took this pick cause that would be awkward.
On the plus side i'm not the only one with bad grammar!

My group just getting to Taiwan

what to do in an airport where no one speaks English...eat and read oh yeah!

You ask what else we could possibly do. well we play the time honored game of midget uno. Man! Look how small these cards are.
As you can pretty much tell from the photo she is either really mad that she lost at Midget Uno or that thing she's holding blew her lips off. I'll let you decide.
Us leaving.

This picture was taken just after i told Jim our Prof. what Luv you long time meant, as well as two dollar sucky sucky... Anyway things here are pretty sweet. We all arrived pretty much unharmed but just tired. CK back soon to see more pic and stuff.
